Denver, Colorado is a beautiful cities with many exceptional communities.  Once you’ve recovered from the whirlwind of activity that is involved in moving, then you can get out and about and begin to meet its wonderful people and close knit communities.  It is important that you get into a regular routine once you are settled; but, often that doesn’t seem so easy when you don’t know where the local hardware store is, the best restaurants or even the gas stations that offer the best prices.  It can be a time that is a bit uneasy, and the transition can be difficult.  Following are some tips to help you to meet people and become part of the community.

• If you have kids, get the active in community activities.  Recreational sports, hobbies, and other extracurricular activities offer you an opportunity to meet other parents within the community.  Also, volunteer at your kids school or join the PTA.

• Subscribe to the local paper.  This will help you to begin to learn the community.

• Visit your new town’s recreation department and library.  Here you will have the opportunity to meet other adults with similar interests.

• Visit the City Hall and Chamber of Commerce to get information on the community.  Also, get a map and drive around the community.

• Join clubs and groups.  Check out your church to see what groups they offer.  If you enjoy photography or gardening then join a photography or gardening group.

• When you see your neighbors out, then introduce yourself.  You can also knock on their door to introduce yourself.

• Take a night out and go to popular areas.  Go to events within the community.  Become a volunteer within the community.

It takes time to settle into a new community and make new friends, but, Colorado State is one of the friendliest and greatest states for outdoor recreation.  Whether you are a “green” lover, or enjoy peaceful stroll, or vibrant nightlife, you won’t find it difficult to find the venue that leads you to new friends.
